For quite some time, the STOCKING, as we know it, has made a real come back. For several generations back we really haven’t been given a true history lesson. Most of our history lessons ended way back in high school, or maybe for some, college.
So let me give you a little inside info on our beloved pair of “stockings” or “hose” as most of us refer them to. See we as women are very coy creatures, we know how to use our bodies to manipulate men. There, I said it. We have a whole “bag of tricks” to use to lure, please, entice, or get the attention of a man we want or already have.
See, the power we hold is much greater than any man. This is just my opinion, so relax, just trying to open your minds. OK, back on the subject of “Stocking.” Why do we wear them and where did they come from? A few theories, but let’s not get to technical.
The first sighting of a stocking or hose was back in the 15th century. So let’s bump father time up a bit. In the 20’s, stockings were worn for warmth. Now those hem lines started rising from the ankle to maybe lower calf? The stocking was used to cover the skin that was showing.
“HUH” imagine that. Before the 50’s, our stockings were made of woven cloth, anything from cotton, wool, linen, and of course silk. So girls, what did we learn? A stocking is a close fitting elastic garment covering the foot and lower portion of the leg or mid thigh.
Today, the primary role of the stocking is fashion, aesthetics and sex appeal. Many specific types of stockings are used today for a particular “look”. Such as, Fence net, Fishnet, Cuban heel, Seamed and Thigh highs just to name a few.
So when picking out an outfit, whether it be an evening gown, mini dress, or a knee length skirt, stockings today are very desired by us for a sexy and sensual feel.
