Our Beloved Stocking

For quite some time, the STOCKING, as we know it, has made a real come back. For several generations back we really haven’t been given a true history lesson. Most of our history lessons ended way back in high school, or maybe for some, college.

So let me give you a little inside info on our beloved pair of “stockings” or “hose” as most of us refer them to. See we as women are very coy creatures, we know how to use our bodies to manipulate men. There, I said it. We have a whole “bag of tricks” to use to lure, please, entice, or get the attention of a man we want or already have.

See, the power we hold is much greater than any man. This is just my opinion, so relax, just trying to open your minds. OK, back on the subject of “Stocking.” Why do we wear them and where did they come from? A few theories, but let’s not get to technical.

The first sighting of a stocking or hose was back in the 15th century. So let’s bump father time up a bit. In the 20’s, stockings were worn for warmth. Now those hem lines started rising from the ankle to maybe lower calf? The stocking was used to cover the skin that was showing.

“HUH” imagine that. Before the 50’s, our stockings were made of woven cloth, anything from cotton, wool, linen, and of course silk. So girls, what did we learn? A stocking is a close fitting elastic garment covering the foot and lower portion of the leg or mid thigh.

Today, the primary role of the stocking is fashion, aesthetics and sex appeal. Many specific types of stockings are used today for a particular “look”. Such as, Fence net, Fishnet, Cuban heel, Seamed and Thigh highs just to name a few.

So when picking out an outfit, whether it be an evening gown, mini dress, or a knee length skirt, stockings today are very desired by us for a sexy and sensual feel.

You've got to love garter belts

This little history lesson is about the beloved Garter Belts. Now-a-days we've come to accept them as one of the ultimate "Tools" us ladies use for showing a "taste" of what might yet to come. A mere glimpse, a peek can put some men into a heart racing sweat. Their eyes become glued to our toned thighs, and then most of these youngsters just fall to pieces.

Others, whom WE like to call experienced, enjoy the glimpse, knowing from experience these little suckers can be tricky to unhook. So, in the 40s to the 1960s "suspenders" that they at the time called them became common especially with the teens and the young women. The suspenders were more comfortable than the larger girdle. (That) subject we haven't touched on yet, but will. Now some women back in the day shall we say for a better lack of words, would wear their stockings without their "suspenders" by simply rolling the top of the stocking because it was more practical.

So let's jump up to the present.

Ok a suspender, or garter belt we will now call it, since we are in the present consisting of a material which is reinforced and is approximately 2 to 3 inches wide. The garment is worn around the waist, not too low or they may fall off and down with the slight tugging, being held to the stocking. See some of US ladies have a little meat on our bones therefore "we" don't have to worry. Aren't WE lucky? Ok, 2 to 3 elastic suspenders are attached to each side. Now the "thingy" that attaches the stocking to the garter is usually hour glass shaped and is lined with a rubber or silicone backing or rubber circle.

What they do is keep the stocking "locked" into place. They can be adjustable on certain brands become some ladies are shorter or longer than others. Duh! So you now when a gentleman friend is nibbling on your ear and unclipping your garters, "hang" on to that one. Lots of magazines, movies, porn all use garter belts for a "specific" look. It's all about Sex. I mean let's face it, SEX sells right? I mean seriously, give a guy a choice of tidy whites, or a lacey contraption that comes in hundreds of colors, materials, textures, you name it- what do you think he'll pick?

Ladies remember men are visual creatures. That's the way they are made. They get aroused by vision. Hey don't blame me, I'm just passing on some info that probably most or some of us already know. So go, go my friends buy garter belts, experiment with materials, colors, thin waist band, or go bold and go old school, thicker waist. Pull up those sexy silk stockings, attach and go catch. Be young, or young at heart. This is your life, so many things to wear, so little time.

Until next time my friends, happy shopping.

Ever wonder where lingerie came from?

Science cannot really give us a hard date, but they say approximately 3000 years B.C... "Really."Now I have one of those minds that like to wonder about things, things like what was really going on under those Togas. Ha! I dare you to think about it. So, way back in Egypt scientists say several terracotta figurines were found he and there around the eastern area. Close enough right? A material called "Lion" cloth evidence proves was one of the first actual materials used (I don't know how) lol, for lingerie purposes.

See, I'm still back a few sentences ago wondering about what was really going on under those Togas. Can't get past it. Ok, think about it, royalty or not there were NO razors, bic shavers, double edge, triple edge razors and for damn sure there was NO Brazilian waxing! LoL, see ugh what a hot mess that must have been. What do you think? So I wonder, I say SELF, what do you think they thought sexy was. I mean cable T.V. goes pretty far out there to make those times pretty sexy. All those armpits and legs "I" saw were pretty shaven.

So anyway, back to Egypt. Chemise material along with our beloved corsets were introduced in the 4th and 16th centuries. (Where did 5-15 go?) Stay on the facts, stay on the facts. Chemise was typically worn under petticoats. NOW were finally getting somewhere! Medieval Times. Now it is said that this time period is wear tailoring all began. Woman started to wear slightly tighter fitting under garments. (Thank God.) Now in the early 20th century a woman called Mary Phelps-Jacobs came up with a brilliant idea.

Her idea and design was to tie (2) silk handkerchiefs one to another with ribbon straps and a seam in center front. Waa La a brazier was born. So being a smart gal she sold her invention to the bra company we all know of still today, Warner's. The first sizes available were A,B and C up to as late as 1935. So there you go. What happened today? Well, we went from 3000B.C., all the way to 1935, and today's untouchable styles and colors and materials all began with (2) little silk hankies, and some ribbon. Goes to show you if you put your mind to it, anything can happen.

Whats my motto ladies? Too little time, too much to buy. Shop till ya drop. As long as you're happy, that's all that matters.

A Rose by Any Other Name - How to Determine a Functional Corset from a Decorative Garment

Having heard tales from friends and family and having read similar stories online about corset follies, nightmares, and other amusing, yet unfortunate, tales, it seems to me that a lot of women cannot tell the difference between a bustier or decorative corset and an actual traditional corset.  As mentioned, I found the stories humorous and I cannot tell you how often my chuckling’s been met with disdain and irritation.  Honestly, I can’t blame the objects of my amusement, but I simply won’t stop laughing when it happens.  I can, however, provide some insight into how to avoid these situations for others – it’s just up to you to listen.

Why it isnt a Good Idea to Protest the New TSA Full Body Scanners with Ugly Underwear

There is some new underwear that has the Fourth Amendment of the United States of America printed on it in metallic ink so that the new airport body scanners that the TSA is employing to help with security will see it.
This is all to protest the “invasion of privacy” that these scanners apparently cause to one’s person. Frankly, this underwear is absolutely ridiculous. I get that people like to keep certain things private and that they don’t like to be subjected to security at anywhere, let alone the airport where connections are tight, but there’s good reason for it.

The Choice Between a Teddy or a Two Piece Lingerie Set

Whether you choose a teddy or a two piece lingerie set is determined by your personality and what you prefer to wear in the end. Two piece lingerie sets offer a little more in the way of versatility and flexibility, but a teddy is one of those items of clothing that carries an appeal of its own that you simply cannot get from a two piece set. Teddies add a little more mystery and a little more allure, and they also tend to distract from the area of the body that most women have an issue with in themselves – their tummies.
